Mr Dale - Sad News
Dear Parents and Carers
It is with a heavy heart that we email you this week. We are sorry to let you know that our dear colleague Tom Dale passed away peacefully yesterday afternoon following a short illness, not Covi-19 related.
Tom joined the English department here in 2005 and he was a dedicated member of the Sixth Form Tutor team for the most part of that time too. Exceptionally bright, industrious and committed, with a sharp wit and a kind heart, Tom gave above and beyond during his time here and we will miss him a great deal.
We know there are former students who went on to courses and careers inspired by his teaching and passion for his subject and that there are countless students who benefited from his skill in helping them through the murky waters of HE applications and the challenges that young adult life can bring with it. We also know that there are current and former pupils who were fortunate enough to have him as their English teacher during their time with us.
Clearly we cannot call our children together to communicate this sad news to them in school under the current circumstances. We are therefore asking parents to speak to children and letting you know that we have counsellors and pastoral staff in school ready to provide support over the telephone or in meetings in school. Please contact your child’s Head of Year if you would like to arrange this.
Tom was a long standing, accomplished and dedicated teacher who will be sadly missed. We will look to a future when we can come together as a community to mark his contribution and our love and respect for him, but of course, at the moment our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
