Dear Parents and Guardians
Just a brief note to thank you for all your support during this long term and to wish you and your families all the very best over the Christmas break.
Here at QES we are getting very excited about the new building areas at the heart of school; they are very close to completion – even to the extent now that we are scheduling the move for Heads of Year, Learning Support and Pupil Reception and thinking about what to call the whole area, including the lovely spacious new atrium leading through to Learning Support.
It feels quite a while since our Christmas Fair but it was as delightful as always and great to see so many of you there supporting our QESA.
The Fair, followed by our Advent Service, always starts the festivities beautifully for us, and as I write I am anticipating Carol Services that unite our community in the wonderful St Mary’s church as we have done for over 400 years.
I’ve just arrived straight from doing a Christmas assembly to Year 7 and there couldn’t be more excitement in the main hall! It is so easy to think secondary school means children are all grown up, but far from it.
All the way up to the Sixth Form, (and staff!), the end of this term really brings with it the understanding that we are a community, we care for one another and we share this special place at a special time in young people’s lives. It is another moment to recognise what a privilege it is to work here with your children.
2019 will come very quickly I’m sure, but I hope your children have a safe, healthy and happy time over the break and return feeling renewed and positive about the next term.
As always, many thanks for your continued support – we couldn’t do half of what we do without you.
Best wishes and Happy Christmas.
Cathy O’Neill, Headteacher
