Rachel teaches Prince Charles!

Ex-QES student Rachel Evison played a very royal role this week by teaching Prince Charles how to weave some special tartan!

Rachel met Prince Charles when he visited Bute Fabrics in Rothesay on the Isle of Bute, where she works as a Junior Designer.

Rachel was selected to show the VIP visitor how to weave, which she demonstrated using a special "Balmoral" tartan that shares its name with the royals’ favourite summer retreat.

Having studied A-level Textiles at QES, Rachel went to Heriott Watt University and achieved a ‘first’ in Design for Textiles (Fashion and Interior) before joining Bute Fabrics, where one of her early projects included fabrics that were presented at Wimbledon.

Bute Fabrics is a world famous and award-winning textiles company with a huge list of clients around the world and the UK, including Ted Baker, Harvey Nichols and the BBC.
