Year 10 Mock Interviews - Big Thank You!

Y9 Meet Holocaust Survivor

Thanks to the Holocaust Educational Trust, our Year 9 History students were able to meet a survivor of the  infamous Theresienstadt concentration camp.

Our guest visitor was Uri Winterstein, who was born into a Jewish family living in Czechoslovakia during World War 2. His family were sent to the Theresienstadt concentration camp and although his parents and sister survived, nine members of his family were murdered by the Nazis at Auschwitz during the Holocaust.

Uri himself lived secretly with local families until being reunited with his parents after the war and his extraordinary story is peppered with close shaves and lucky escapes.

This visit in April was part of an ongoing History project with Year 9 that asks why we should remember the Holocaust.

At the end of his talk to the students, Uri emphasised the need for tolerance, making the most of opportunities, and answered questions.

We are very grateful to the Holocaust Educational Trust for giving our students this opportunity. For more information, click the link below.
