DoE Bronze, May 2014
By Mrs Lomax
Many congratulations to the 90 year 10s who undertook our new and improved (ie longer, more challenging and outstandingly beautiful!) Bronze qualifying expedition in the Yorkshire Dales on various weekends throughout May.
As you can see from the photos below, the weather was largely very favourable, although our walkers on one weekend got a bit of a drenching from the accurately forecast showers which accompanied the sunshine.
Over the course of the two days the groups walked on average 30 km, carrying tents and all provisions for the two day trip. They demonstrated good map-reading skills (many improving before our very eyes over the course of the walk!) and worked extremely well as both small walking groups and as a large group on the campsite at Dent.
Now all that remains is to complete the other 3 sections of their D of E before they can receive official notification that they have successfully completed the Award!
