Teacher of Social Sciences & volunteer at Morecambe Homeless ActionLast Autumn the whole school donated food through a Harvest Festival and the response was amazing. We had so much food that we were still using your donated ingredients to make meals well into March. We were so happy and grateful!
But while giving at Harvest Festivals is a wonderful thing, our service users need help all year round.
So we’re now asking QES students & staff to help with food donations on a regular basis.
You have been so generous in the past we know that QES can rise to this challenge and really make a difference to these people’s lives.
A gift of food does more than fill empty stomachs – it demonstrates to the 1 in 5 people living below the poverty line that someone cares.
To see how much it means, just have a quick look at the messages sent to QES by some of our clients.
It’s really important that people who feel they’re on the “edges” of society feel they have somewhere to feel safe and comfortable, somewhere to socialise or discuss their problems.
Many of our service users really appreciate having a square meal, made with fresh ingredients, and some of them just appreciate having a brew, a biccie and a chat.
So we also need a constant supply of ingredients for means plus tea bags, coffee, longlife milk, juice and sugar.
Please have a look at the list of things we need - and even little donations would be a big deal to us and our clients!
Students can just drop any donations in the basket outside the Main Hall, next to IT6.
Already, we have other members of staff and sixth formers who volunteer at services in Morecambe & Lancaster. And all our students have been really great with their response to the series of Assembles we've done in school recently.
So we now hope our school Community can go that bit further and help even more.
Thank you!!
