The annual Cumbrian schools reading challenge has begun again and we are hoping that among these eight titles we will enjoy some fantastic fiction as we did last year with the winning books She’s not Invisible (Marcus Sedgwick) and Say Her Name (James Dawson). We’re aiming to read the shortlist by June, ready for the regional vote cast for the overall favourite. This year’s books are:

My Second Life (Faye Bird)

Apple and Rain (Sarah Crossan)

If you were Me (Sam Hepburn)

The Boy who Drew the Future (Rhian Ivory)

An Island of our Own (Sally Nicholls)

The Wolf Wilder (Katherine Rundell)

Smart (Kim Slater)

Fire Colour One (Jenny Valentine)

We meet on Monday lunch-times in the Reading Room – all are welcome.
